Mr. Paperback is located at the Capitol Shopping Center on Western Avenue next to Shaw's Supermarket and The Dollar Tree. The store has been here for thirty years serving the greater Augusta area.
Mr. Paperback has a broad selection of books both new titles and backlist titles as well as the largest selection of magazines in town. We have a vast selection of books available to order. We can order books and have them here in two or three days in most cases. We can also search for out-of-print books. These books take longer and we are not always able to locate every title, but we do our utmost to find that special book. Our friendly staff is ready to help you find the book you want.
Mr. Paperback is not just a bookstore. We have a large selection of greeting cards and gifts. So when you need a present, either a book or a gift, come to Mr. Paperback. WE HAVE MOVED
Mr. Paperback is now located between the Kennel Shop and the Dry Cleaners
at Capitol Shopping Center. Our old location is now occupied by the Family Dollar Store, so when you come in the center doors, turn to the left. Come and see our new space!

and Margaret Chase Smith: A Woman for President
and Science Fair Day

On Friday, April 18, from 2-4 pm, Maine children's book author Lynn Plourde will be autographing some of her new books including At One: In a Place
Called Maine, Margaret Chase Smith: A Woman for President, and Science Fair Day at Mr. Paperback on Western Avenue in Augusta. Call the bookstore at 622-3471 for further information or to reserve an autographed copy.
Plourde has had a total of twenty childrens books published to date including "Wild Child," a 1999 Lupine Honor Book by the Maine Library Association and an American Booksellers Kids Pick of the Lists for one of the best picture books of 1999; Snow Day, a Los Angeles Times Best Book of the Year; and Dino Pets, a fun easy-reader story with dinosaur facts in the back. Her newest books are At One: In a Place Called Maine a love poem to the state of Maine; Science Fair Day with a main character called Ima Kindanozee; and MArgaret Chase Smith: A Woman for President, a picture book biography with illustrations by David McPhail. Plourde also co-authored the guidebook "A Celebration of Maine Children's Books" with her husband Paul Knowles, and she presents frequently at conferences about the newest Maine children's books. Plourde worked for 21 years as a Maine public school speech-language therapist and has had eleven educational books for teachers published including her newest Listening, Speaking, & Learning. Plourde is a Skowhegan native who currently lives in Winthrop, Maine.
